Morning

 

Renji lied snug in bed, soft blankets pulled up to his nose. One of the windows was open, letting the fresh spring breeze and the little songster’s happy song in.

He lazily opened one eye and glanced out. The sun shined brightly, drying the dew up, slowly warming the cold air. It must have been raining during the evening, judging from the sparkling drops on the budding branches of the young cherry tree in front of his window. It’d have been such a beautiful morning if he hadn’t been ill.

His stomach rumbled and he grunted in irritation. He took no interest in anything at the moment and he had not the slightest intention of getting up and whipping something up for breakfast.

He grumbled again and pulled the sheets over his head, sick of hearing those damn birds singing their disgustingly happy songs while he suffered.

Something poked his shoulder through the blankets. He groaned lowly and snuggled one of his pillows, rubbing his face into it and mumbling something unintelligible. There was another poke and he frowned. He was on sick leave; he shouldn’t have been disturbed, not even if doomsday had come.

He felt cool fingers smoothing damp locks out of his face. He hummed his approval and embraced his pillow closer to himself. The fingers made their way across his face to his cheeks, lightly caressing. He wriggled his nose at the ticklish touch and gave a reproachful grunt as the evil fingers suddenly flipped said organ.

A low, deep chuckle smote his ears and his eyes snapped open.

“’Kuya?” he asked on a drowsy tone, staring up at the man sitting on the edge of his bed. “What are you doing here?”

“I thought you must be hungry.” The noble said calmly and held up a brown bag with a dark fish shape on it.

Renji was wide awake in a second and immediately snatched at the bag like a starving puppy, eyes shining brightly, probably because of his slight fever… probably not.

The corners of the captain’s mouth turned upward and he handed the bag to the impatient redhead who quickly opened it and not so elegantly started eating one of the sweet pancakes.

“Shouldn’t you be in the office?” Renji asked, his mouth full of taiyaki.

“It is still too early.” The other man answered. “Besides, I brought you something else.”

“What do I get?” the redhead asked with a childish excitement in his voice. He liked surprises and Byakuya knew that.

“This.” Byakuya said and held up something… small.

Renji’s smile faded and he frowned, crossing his arms over his chest.

“I thought it’d be a little more special.” He said on a disappointed tone, secretly hoping this was just another weird joke of the other man and the real surprise would come later.

“Renji, it do not have to be special, it just has to work.” Byakuya said matter of factly and with that the redhead’s hopes flew out of the window.

“OK, but then don’t announce it like I’d get a huge teddy bear or something.” He said sulkily, staring at a far corner.

Byakuya tilted his head and looked at the other man puzzled.

“Would you like a huge teddy bear?”

“Nooooo!” Renji shouted in annoyance, his hands fisting in his hair. “You don’t get the point! I just thought you’d give me something interesting, not some damn pill.”

Byakuya frowned, slightly offended.

“I would be glad if you valued the fact that I went to the 4^th division early in the morning just to get these so you do not have to do it yourself.” He said on a chiding tone like he was speaking to a refractory brat. It wasn’t anything new; he often felt like he put a child wise when he spoke to Renji.

The redhead’s expression turned a little repentant.

“OK, sorry about that… and thanks.” He said, lowering his eyes. “But you could be a little more tolerant, ya know. I’m ill; my head wanna split in two, I feel weak and I have a sore throat.” He didn’t know if it was a good enough excuse… he’d really acted like a PMSing Rukia.

“If you did not complain that much and rested more you would not feel all those things.” The noble said, his voice a little more sympathetic. “Now, if you took this and the others I have brought you I promise you I would take you to somewhere interesting later in the afternoon.”

Renji’s head snapped up, breaking into a happy grin.

“Really?” he asked, beaming.

Byakuya nodded, a little smile on his face, handing the pill to the other.

Renji would have never thought that ‘somewhere interesting’ meant the 4^th division.

I'll try to cut it short...

Okkkkay, have you heard the new (but not the newest) Bleach Beat Collection, Byakuya + Rukia? I was waiting for Byakushi's BBC since last year and I started to give hearing him singing up. But all this waiting was worth it!X3 Byakuya's song is so good notwithstanding that I don't really like this kind of music. Okiayu Ryoutarou's voice is so pleasant to listening to and the pianist must have some serious talent (not that I know anything about music making). As I was listening to 'Yozora no Kawa' I imagined Byakuya playing the piano - srsly droolworthy sight.8D~~~ And it suits him, anyway.^^ 
The title is beautiful, I wish I knew what he's singing about...

Rukia's song didn't have a big impression on me, sometimes I'm listening to it but IMO 'Kaze' is way better.

As far as I know the latest BBC is Kaien+Ukitake. I downloaded the songs but they are... average. At least I didn't feel any serious emotion in them, even if I concentrate on them while listening they feel kinda languid to me.

However, Szayel's BBC was surprisingly good. And since he's one of the few characters I dislike in Bleach, plus I don't really like this kinda music either, it's saying something. When I heard the titles are gonna be 'Pink' and 'Science Show' I thought they are gonne be some freakish - forgive me for this - gay songs. I think his songs are really great, unfortunately (or is that fortunately? XD) I don't know what he's singing about. I can't feel emotions in them either but it's refreshing to listening to them.:D

I wish the next BBC would be adult Nel's, but I think I have to wait for that till we see her in the anime.*cries* Stupid fillers.>.<
